A Multiple Listing Service, or widely known as MLS, is a private database of over 700 to 800 regional MLS databases that allow real estate brokers and agents to list homes for sale, find property details, and even communicate with other clients or brokers. If your home for sale is already listed on the regional or local MLS, it will be syndicated unto Zillow, Trulia, Realtor.com, Redfin, and other real estate sites and portals available. Each online database is exclusive only to state-licensed real estate agents and affiliate professionals—and you have to hire one to get access to your local MLS. With the advent of the internet, several companies can now offer Flat Fee MLS package, an “Entry Only” service that allows For Sale By Owner sellers to list their property on the local MLS through a realtor for a flat fee. Besides, some packages also provide real estate services like home showings, marketing tools, and even negotiations.
