825 W 179th St

A six-story pre-war cooperative built in 1920, this 42-unit building presents classic Upper Manhattan architecture and preserved period detail. The common areas include a restored marble lobby with stained glass and skylight, a recently updated elevator, central laundry room, a resident superintendent, and additional rentable storage cages. Residences are primarily two-bedroom configurations—many reconfigured or combined—featuring high ceilings, hardwood floors, large multi-aspect windows with river and bridge vistas, and layouts that accommodate eat-in or galley kitchens. Recent improvements across units include renovated kitchens with modern stainless appliances, windowed bathrooms, in-unit washer/dryers in select homes, custom closets, and insulated windows. Exterior amenities are minimal, but residents have access to a planted central courtyard and nearby outdoor resources: Fort Tryon Park, the Hudson River Greenway, and multiple neighborhood parks and trails. Practical services include on-site maintenance, bicycle access to the George Washington Bridge pedestrian/bike path, and proximity to the newly renovated bus terminal and A, 1 and C subway lines. The co-op permits pets, offers a live-in super, and manages building operations such as storage allocation, building-wide systems upgrades, and periodic assessments.
