1040 Erie St

This is a mid-century, low-rise condominium erected in 1968 and organized around five stories with elevator access. Units are predominantly two- and three-bedroom condos laid out with combined living/dining spaces, kitchens that have been routinely modernized, and private balconies that offer tree-top views. Interior finishes in many residences include hardwood or contemporary replacement flooring, walk-in closets in primary suites, and updated bathrooms. Common areas comprise a small lobby, secured entry with a recently upgraded digital intercom, on-site storage rooms and bicycle storage, and laundry rooms located on each floor. Exterior amenities are modest: assigned parking that typically begins as exterior and converts to covered parking as neighboring units sell, plus routine exterior maintenance and seasonal services included in assessments. The association emphasizes conservative financial management with healthy reserves and an active program of corridor and lobby renovations. Pet rules allow cats but generally prohibit dogs; rentals are restricted and the building reports near- or full owner-occupancy. Situated in central Oak Park, the property is a short walk to transit (Metra and the Green Line), grocery options, restaurants, parks, and the Frank Lloyd Wright historic district, supporting a largely walkable, transit-oriented lifestyle.
