Fort Tryon Gardens is a mid‑century, eight‑story cooperative completed in 1951 and composed primarily of two‑bedroom apartments. The complex occupies multiple connected buildings set around landscaped courtyards and gardens that provide residents with green, managed outdoor space backing onto Fort Tryon Park. Architecturally the property reflects restrained postwar design with practical layouts, high ceilings in many units, and elevator access. Typical apartment features include eat‑in kitchens with windows, entrance foyers, crown molding, hardwood plank floors, renovated baths, abundant closet space and substantial natural light from corner and high‑floor exposures. Shared facilities support everyday living: a 24‑hour laundry room, bike room, enclosed storage (waiting list), on‑site resident super/management, porter service, and an indoor parking garage (fee). The cooperative is investor‑ and pet‑friendly, offers sponsor units with streamlined entry terms (some with no board approval), and has undertaken recent infrastructure upgrades such as a new roof and a video intercom system. Located in Hudson Heights, the property sits directly across from the A express line (190th Street) and within walking distance of the 1 train, with immediate access to Fort Tryon Park, Cloisters, neighborhood shops and major regional routes including the GWB and expressways.
