522 W End Ave

The Crestmont is a 15-story prewar cooperative on West End Avenue in Manhattan, completed in 1923 and attributed to Rosario Candela. The façade features the era’s ornamental details and a noted three-story terra-cotta treatment; interiors retain high ceilings, hardwood floors, and classic Candela room proportions. Apartment configurations are primarily one- and two-bedrooms (with larger multi-room homes appearing occasionally), typically organized around a formal foyer, separate living and dining spaces, windowed kitchens and baths, generous closets and built-in millwork. Shared spaces include a restored lobby, 24-hour doorman service, live-in superintendent, central laundry, bicycle storage, and a private planted garden/courtyard and small patio ideal for reading or informal dining. The co-op’s management permits pets, pied-à-terres, and washer-dryers with board approval; subletting is allowed subject to board rules and 75% financing is commonly accepted. The building’s location one block from Riverside Park provides direct access to waterfront green space, jogging routes and river views, while nearby transit, shops and established Upper West Side restaurants support an urban, pedestrian-friendly lifestyle.
