This is an intimate, prewar cooperative built in 1928 and standing nine stories high on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The building’s exterior reads as traditional beige brick with a canopied entrance, wrought-iron doors and classical stone detailing. Interiors across the walk-up floors reflect Classic 1920s apartment planning: compact one-bedroom layouts with high beamed or coffered ceilings, hardwood or herringbone floors, wood-burning fireplaces, built-in shelving and period moldings. Individual units often include windowed kitchens and baths, formal dining or dining-area niches and small dens or hallways with abundant closet space. Common areas are quietly appointed — a staffed lobby with a live-in superintendent and porter, basement laundry, bicycle room, private storage options, and a planted, furnished courtyard set off the rear for resident use. The coop’s management permits pets with board approval, allows co-purchasing and guarantors in many cases, and typically offers 75% financing; pied-a-terres may be restricted depending on the apartment. Maintenance fees are noted to be comparatively low for the neighborhood. Located literally steps from Fifth Avenue, Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the building sits amid Museum Mile retail, groceries and transit options, offering a classic, walkable Upper East Side lifestyle with preserved prewar character and modest, service-oriented amenities.
