About Dillard 6-12

Dillard 6-12 was established in 1907. Its first purpose-built schoolhouse, a two-story building completed in 1924, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991 and houses the Old Dillard Museum. The school is named for James Hardy Dillard, an educator who served on the Louisiana State Board of Education and led the Jeanes Foundation from 1907 to 1931. It is part of Broward County Public Schools and belongs to the district's Dillard Innovation Zone. Magnet Schools of America gave its arts magnet programme a National Award of Merit in 2020, and the NAMM Foundation named it a Best Communities for Music Education winner in 2019. Alumni include NFL players Isaac Bruce, Chris Gamble, Lorenzo White, Quinn Gray, Pat Sims, Stanley McClover, Jovan Haye and Percy Howard, NBA guard Keyon Dooling, and the members of the string duo Black Violin. Its teams are the Panthers, and its colors are blue and grey.
