The school is sponsored by the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, and is governed by the board of directors of Somerset Academy, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation that also governs other schools. The Florida Department of Education named it a School of Excellence on the Elementary School list for 2023-24 and again for 2024-25.
