An elegant 12-story cooperative constructed in 1954, this Carnegie Hill white-glove residence occupies a quiet, tree-lined block a half-block from Fifth Avenue, Central Park, and Museum Mile. The building’s masonry façade and restrained midcentury proportions conceal a classic prewar-inspired interior rhythm: gracious entrance foyer, high ceilings in many units, detailed millwork and hardwood floors throughout select apartments. Unit mix ranges from studios and one-bedrooms to larger three- and four-bedroom homes, many offering double exposures and separate dining areas; several units have been tastefully renovated with modern chef-caliber kitchens while others retain original parquet and plaster finishes ready for renovation. Shared resources emphasize concierge-style living: full-time doorman, live-in superintendent, porter services, laundry room, private planted courtyard and garden, bike storage, private storage bins and an on-site garage. Building policies are cooperative board governed with pied-à-terre and pet ownership commonly permitted subject to board approval; some listings note financing limits and a nominal flip tax. The location prioritizes cultural access and walkability — museums, boutique shopping, restaurants and Central Park are immediate conveniences, supporting a quiet yet culturally connected Upper East Side lifestyle.
