514 W End Ave

A 16-story prewar cooperative on the Upper West Side built in 1923, this full-service building preserves classic architectural details while operating with contemporary conveniences. The façade and lobby retain period character and the tower-like massing steps in with the surrounding midrise context. Typical residences are two-bedroom layouts (with occasional larger combinations), featuring high ceilings, hardwood floors often with inlay or parquet patterns, original crown and Art Deco moldings, and oversized windows that provide multi-aspect exposures and city views from upper floors. Common areas emphasize concierge-style living: a 24-hour doorman, porter service, a live‑in superintendent, central laundry facilities and private basement storage cages. Apartments frequently include renovated kitchens with granite counters and stainless appliances, windowed eat-in kitchens or separate dining rooms, built-in cabinetry, generous closet storage including walk-ins, and in-unit washer/dryer hookups in many units. Bathrooms range from original prewar marble to fully modernized spa-like baths with soaking tubs or jacuzzi tubs. The building is pet-friendly and allows pied-à-terres and subletting subject to board approval; it maintains a neighborhood-oriented feel with typically three apartments per floor on many levels. Location strengths include close proximity to Riverside and Central Park, neighborhood shopping, dining, cultural venues, houses of worship, and multiple subway lines, supporting an Upper West Side lifestyle that blends historic charm with full-service urban living.
