825 Walton Ave

A six-story prewar cooperative built in 1924, this walk-up building occupies a block-facing site in the Concourse/Franz Sigel Park area of the Bronx. Units are primarily one- and two-bedroom layouts with high ceilings, original parquet floors, picture moldings and tall windows that look out over a planted courtyard or nearby park. Kitchens are frequently renovated to include granite or stone counters, stainless appliances, tile floors and pantry space; bathrooms often retain classic cast-iron tubs with subway tile or mosaic flooring. Common features include an entrance foyer, on-site laundry, a live-in superintendent and porter services, a gated courtyard and balconies on select units. The co-op is self-managed, pet-friendly on a case-by-case basis, and permits relatively low down payments with notably low monthly maintenance charges compared with local alternatives. Street-level access and proximity to D/4 and other express subway lines make commuting straightforward; nearby neighborhood assets include parks, retail, gyms and cultural institutions. Parking is street-based; there are no private garages or private elevators. The overall character is a well-maintained, historically detailed prewar residence geared toward practical, value-oriented urban living.
