128 Central Park S

A distinguished 16-story prewar cooperative completed in 1924, this limestone‑clad building exemplifies early 20th-century Italianate/Renaissance-Palazzo sensibilities along Central Park South. Units are primarily one- and two-bedroom layouts with high beamed ceilings, original moldings, hardwood or herringbone floors, and generous closets; many residences feature formal entry foyers, oversized living and dining rooms, windowed kitchens and decorative wood-burning fireplaces. Common interiors emphasize prewar character updated for modern living: his-and-hers or walk-in closets, storage rooms, smoke-free hallways and occasional in-unit washer/dryer setups in renovated homes. The property provides limited exterior communal space with garden areas and building storage. Full-time staffing and white-glove service define the building’s operations—24-hour doorman, concierge and a live‑in superintendent are routinely mentioned across listings—along with cooperative governance that permits pied-à-terres, pets and liberal financing in many cases. Located directly across from Central Park and steps from Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and high-end retail and dining, the building offers immediate cultural access, strong transit connections and an urban lifestyle anchored by park frontage and iconic city views.
