The Multiple Listing Service, also recognized as the MLS, is an online private marketplace operated by REALTORS® to help collect available homes for sale and list properties in one portal. Unless you’re a state-licensed real estate agent or an affiliate professional, you can’t access the local Mississippi MLS to post your home. But once it’s on the local listing, your property will be also added to different real estate national sites like Realtor.com, Zillow, Redfin, and Trulia. Remember that only licensed real estate brokers, agents, and affiliate professionals can enter the local MLS since they have to pay a membership fee. The majority of homeowners selling a home without a realtor, or For Sale By Owner home sellers, pick a Flat Fee MLS service to only list their home on the local MLS. A Flat Fee MLS listing is an “Entry Only” service which means you pay for a discounted fee to post your home on the MLS without all the additional fees from traditional realtor’s services—5 to 6% commission of the sales price.
