Pros
Cons
House Buyers of America is a real estate investment company that makes cash offers on homes as-is. They also work with real estate investors. They provide a quick closing timeline that helps sellers who need money urgently.
However, housebuyersofamerica.com’s offerings aren’t as straightforward as they seem. You may have to settle for an extremely lowball offer for your property.
A cash buyer marketplace can help you get close to your home’s full value. You can list your property within 24 hours. You also get to compare offers from multiple cash buyers instead of settling for one low offer.
Despite these findings, House Buyers of America maintains strong ratings of 4.7 stars on Google, 4.5 stars on BBB, and 2.9 stars on Yelp. However, some customer reviews mention last-minute price reductions, communication issues, and unresponsive staff.

Opendoor scales this direct-sale concept across nationwide markets as an iBuyer. Their algorithms analyze real estate data to output higher valuations. We were attempting to purchase for client and HBA overextended the offer period took it to an inhouse application that then dragged it out for an additional week while shopping around between different offers effectively rejecting our “accepted” counter offer which is effectively illegal. Will never!! Put another off on one of their houses again

BUYER AND REALTOR BEWARE. As a home buyer in 2025, purchasing from Home Buyers of America was a nightmare for me and my realtor in a purchase in Severn, Maryland. Their agent, Matt, was extremely slow to respond to almost all emails. I guess their agents are in-house and don’t work on weekends. To start, we offered $210k on their $200k list price, and they countered by asking for $212k and waiving contingencies. (Come on, really?) While we were under contract, my realtor then had to repeat multiple emails trying to get documents from Matt and Amanda. Then, our appraisal came in low, about $19k under their list price, and our appraiser’s report specifically called out their sub-par flipping work. The purchase was tanked. While we were waiting on our appraiser to reconsider their appraisal amount, House Buyers of America had already relisted the house on Zillow while we were still technically under contract! Then after all the paperwork was signed for cancellation, they asked me to sign an extra document that included a Non-Disparagement agreement to not post any negative reviews online. Run away as fast as you can from any purchase with this company, ESPECIALLY if you’re a realtor, and avoid the headaches we had with them.
